We look forward to welcoming you to a pleasant and homy stay at Danhostel Fredensborg Youth - and Family Hostel.

Where is the hostel situated ? 
The hostel is situated in a small town, Fredensborg, which you will find 15 km from Helsingør (Elsignore), 10 km from Hillerød and 25 km from København (copenhagen). We only got 8.000 inhabitants in our smalle town, and almost no crime !

What is Fredensborg ?
Fredensborg is known for its castle, the Fredensborg Castle, where the royal family lives. The hostel is the neighbor to Fredensborg Castle, and from our big 7000 m2 garden of the hostel you can walk directly into the great park surrounding Fredensborg Palace with its famous avenues, statues and small pavilions.

King Frederik IV built the Palace after the Great Nordic War ended in 1720. Hence the name Fredensborg (which means castle of peace). Inspired by his many travels to Italy he had the palace built in renaissance style. Several architects worked on the project, first Cornelius Krieger ending with C.F.Harsdorff in the 1770. The Palace is in the shape of an octagon surrounded by a beautiful garden and a park reaching down to Esrum Lake.
